Reiki Healing
Even today Reiki is still sometimes dismissed as a form of mysticism that “is in the head”. This view is gradually changing with more and more research demonstrating its mode of functioning. Unveiling the functioning of Reiki and other Energy Medicine modalities in the language of modern science allows us to remind ourselves that what exists is not always visible to the naked eye. Galileo, Newton, and Einstein were among the few innovative individuals whose ideas later on propelled society into an altogether different world view. What will research into Energy Medicine bring?
“If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.” -Einstein
As a form of folk medicine, Reiki is a modality which enables healing to occur after inquiring about concerns only. Allopathic medicine functions based on the assessment of signs and symptoms while other holistic medical or healing systems function based on their analysis in terms of individual differential assessment and identification of underlying imbalances and patterns. However, sages of these traditions noted that the most direct and efficient route of healing was through these pure forms of folk medicine. Today Reiki is being utilized once again on a wide scale and is being used to address all sorts of illnesses and conditions such as stress relief, mental health including depression and Alzheimer’s, as well as for pain relief. As a direct form of healing, the effects of Reiki can work on many levels simultaneously, drawing the individual as a whole- mind, body, and spirit- into balance.
